The Treasure Series | UNITED

Recently I was privileged to attend a Bible study and make some new friends. Unfortunately, I had to miss a few sessions due to immovable scheduling problems, but even in the weeks I was able to attend you know what I found. New sisters. How do perfect strangers become sisters in such a short time? Because we have the same Father, many shared experiences, the same language, goals, dreams, ambitions. And because our Savior and brother asked our Father to “make us one”.
In a beautiful prayer John recorded in his gospel, Jesus prays for us—you and me.
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
Unity among believers is an answer to Jesus prayer, and unity among believers sends a message to the world that Jesus was sent here from God and that He loves us just like God loves Him. Is it any wonder that Satan directs so much attention to dividing the church? A unified body of believers is a living testimony of the sacrificial love of God for us.
So, even if I haven’t even met you, we have so much in common. We have the mind of Christ for one thing. We have the shared experience of being rescued, redeemed and reconciled to God. We have the same light shining inside us, we are adopted into the same family. We are sisters and brothers.
Is it any wonder that 16 ladies from different neighborhoods, churches, backgrounds became as close as sisters in 8 weeks. Not really. We have the same “ancestry”.
Being united with other believers all over the world is a gift, a supernatural treasure given to us as believers, that when properly acknowledged is a witness to the world that God so loved the world that he gave his only son that whoever believed in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
And so we worship together and study together and pray for each other and encourage and admonish each other and teach each other and weep with each other and rejoice with each other and do life together, because we are united into one family.
One of the many supernatural treasures we have been given!
I hope you enjoy this song that beautifully demonstrates the unity of believers from all walks of life. The video shows scenes from the Jesus Revolution film.
